Gena McGuire is a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter that can be seen regularly playing throughout
the tri-state area.
Originally from New Haven CT, Gena began playing piano at the age of six. Her mother, a jazz singer
from Brooklyn would often gather her children together to listen to records from the Great American
Songbook to pop and contemporary favorites which would be the basis of her eclectic love of music.
Gena went on to study classical performance at Western Connecticut university. It was during this time
that Gena fell in love with Jazz and switched majors. She went on to continue her education in New York
City where she worked as a manager of famous jazz clubs and restaurants. While given access to the
greatest music in the world and master musicians that taught, inspired, and mentored her; Gena
developed a sound completely unique.
With a repertoire vast ranging in classical, jazz, blues, pop, country, and original music, a night by the
piano with Gena is one not to be missed. You will laugh – a lot- and cry – but not too much, leaving with
the sense that you had a night well spent and will be sure to return.
